Laser Grips For Colt Detective Special Review

Handguns such as Colt Detective Special with no Picatinny or other rail can’t really accommodate tactical lasers. When you look at the functionality and the “purpose” of the laser you can sum it up into two categories - sight enhancement and intimidation of the target. Both of these can be alternated by other tools. Our Hogue wood and rubber grips are designed to fit Colt revolver models with the short 'D' frame only as pictured. This frame fits other post-1966 short 'D' frame revolvers as listed: Detective Special, Diamondback, Police Positive Special, Cobra, Agent and Viper. In addition, Hogue Rubber grips will fit the SF-VI, DS-II, Magnum Carry and Lady.

The Colt D-Frame was originally designed as a conveniently sized carry weapon for law enforcement. The small frame revolver was first seen in the Police Positive and Police Positive Special, but then was also extended to the Detective Special, Commando Special, Cobra, Agent, Diamondback, Police Positive MK V, Viper, and Courier.
Over the years, the D-Frame went through several variations. Altamont Colt D-Frame Grips will only fit the SHORT and SQUARE BUTT versions that were made after 1966. The D-Frame and 2017 Cobra frames are NOT interchangeable. You can find grips for the 2017 Colt Cobra HERE.
